The Star Online: Blog

Well, since Ive just posted the SHES 3303 post, I might as well post this another one. It's a blog I wrote long ago in the Star where then, they offered RM50 to the best post of the day and the other top 2 or 3 best post are printed in the paper's section. Haha, had to say, the RM50 and the thought of having a glance of my name in the paper are what drove me to attempt my 1st blog =) The 2nd post that I uploaded, was filtered and not uploaded as they deemed inappropriate as I blogged about the Passion of Christ and threw some criticism to the government XD haha, my bad. So, here's the 1s blog I was talking about. As for the 2nd one, I couldnt find the hard copy of it. Kinda lost it already. Oh well =)

The grass is not always greener on the other side ..
Posted by: Amos Aw
The SPM results are out and kudos to those who excel with flying colours. As I screened through the articles relating to their experiences and obstacles meticulously in hope of finding a recipe to success,I was flabbergasted to note that a big portion of the creme de la creme decided to opt for A-levels or even to cross the borders to foreign countries. If you are a scholar,by all means do that and make Malaysia proud. However,to the unfortunate but bright ones, why not challenge yourself and sit for STPM which is regarded as the 2nd toughest exam in the world?

I have gone through SPM in 2004 and am now an Upper 6 student.Life in Sixth-Form is in stark contrast to that in Fifth-Form.SPM is nothing compared to STPM which delved deeply into every chapter.Maybe the high-prestige of sitting for A-levels as it sounds more 'class' conspired some of you to enrol into this examination.Do not get me wrong,I do not have any grudge against A-levels as I'm an STPM student.

My tutor once told me,"If you can get 4 flat (or 5 in that matter) in STPM,it is better than scoring 20A1's in your SPM!"That is how high the intellectual bar is in STPM.If you valedictorians think you have done enough by proving that you can score dozens of A1's in SPM,think again.Like A-levels,STPM too is recongnised globally (and maybe given higher regard!).So,why not take this challenge and prove yourself once more that you are worthy? Here,I make an open challenge to all the top students in SPM 2005 .. PROVE yourself that you are worthy of your slips by excelling in STPM!

Maybe you subscribe to the yesteryear adage that the grass is always greener on the other side or better still,to prove to others that you can be the best in foreign land,my advice to you is this,be the very BEST in Malaysia first before deciding to go else where.Get your 4 flat (or 5) and then disappear to any corner of the world for all I care as I know you are worthwhile. Then only will I take my off my hat and lay a pen on your desk if I ever cross path with you ..
