No, Im not about to wax lyrical over him but a recent youtube video shared via facebook by a friend under the title: Cristiano Ronaldo tested to the limit piqued my interest. The video is 40 mins + long and Castrol definitely did a good job advertising their stars and how great he can be. Here's the link to the vid:

Having watched them (it's very interesting, really!) I cant help but to analyze and subsequently throw some criticism on the experiments conducted. Well, I actually wrote a long analysis on his wall and was thinking that I wrote it very well to not go unnoticed. So here it is, taken directly from the comment box ;)

As usual, if I dont critique something, Im just not Amos XD
The test done were interesting what not with state of the art technologies but since it is done by Castrol to boost up Ronaldo's image and thus, their product, I cant help to feel that certain results are portrayed to get the best out of him.
The eye test seems flawed viz we only see Ronaldo in an offensive position vs an inexperienced defence. When you're on the offence, its easy to read the opponents defence and try to get past him. Amongst the reasons good defenders are usually 30+ due to experiences covered and vice versa for strikers. When ur on the defence, footleg can definitely fool you amongst the things that Ronaldinho did often, look 1 direction pass the ball to the opposite. Put Ronaldo on the defence and his 'red dot' will be all over the place as well.
On his physique, based on this experiments it seems Ronaldo has the supreme body size that made him God in football but Messi's physique is on the extreme end of the spectrum and yet. he's as good, if not better than Ronaldo. The dangerous things about facts is it's very misleading. Yes good jump skill, less body fat &, big chest, big hips, sprinters legs etc but remember, Messi can do the same as well.
On the dark condition corner kicks, it seems Ronald's ball was much higher whilst the one delivered to Ronaldo seems to be moderate to low level of trajectory. But of course, experiences can read the ball movement but I would prefer to do 2 more tests on this, give Ronald a slighlty moderate to low ball and Ronaldo a much higher ball then it'll be more convincing.
Regarding Ronaldo's free kick as the most lethal seems to be not for me. Check out Juninho Pernambucano's free kicks which time and again seems to be very consistent from very far range. As in regards to breaking glasses, give Roberto Carlos to do so and he'll be able to break all 6 in a go.
On the sniper shooting thingy, it seems sometimes Ronaldo did fumbled on the ball and yet 2 laser beams couldnt shoot the ball. Im questioning the credentials of the snipers.
He's stats are good, but not great. Amongst the things aptitude or natural abilities should not be broken down to empirical data too much. You cant replicate it. You can only study it. But to study them and say, it's the best is definitely not true. Pele's the greatest goal scorer of all time, 1000+ goals? He definitely not as tall as Ronaldo etc etc. So where does this lead us?
Good commercial by Castro + Good experiments + Good technology but many left to be questioned. Convincing but sly at the same time.
My verdict ;)
